Cap and Gown aka Lacey
Ge really came so far in 3 weeks and has now begun his life as a lesson horse! So far everyone that has ridden him (well like 3 riders lol) i also jumped him a but last week which was fun! When i get back i will post a really cute picture of us jumping 2’6 his third time jumping undersaddle :)
I am on my way to the airport now so I will be back with my girl tomorrow! So tomorrow this will go back to being a blog about Lacey! :)
Ryan was beyond amazing!! I mean he has SOOO much more to learn but for where he is he is doing so well!!! I am just watching the videos and well it felt better than it looked, but all of out tests ended up being in the mid 60s so I was very pleased!!! We even got a few 8s!!!! I didnt even get an…
so so so proud of the boy!!
And I talked Cathy fianlly into upping Ryan’s grain. He has gone from no work to being ridden 5-6 days a week so he is gaining muscle but his ribs are coming out again. Poo pony needs to gain like another 200 or so pounds!
But he is officially shinny soft and perfect for tomorrow!! :) Time to get ready for Devons party and hopefully some sleep too lol
this is from the end of March to May 2nd. I only just started really working him last week so its really the progress over two weeks no HUGE changes but he is already looking at least a bit better :)
I gave him today off since I have been riding him every day. Lesson early tomorrow morning and then show on Sunday! :)
I took a dressage lesson on RyRy this morning and he was so amazing! At the walk and trot at least but hes still learning how to really balance himself at the canter. But seriously walk and trot so good!!! I am planning on showing him in out dressage show next weekend. Cathy wants me to do Training Test 1 and 2, but I would much rather do Into Test 2 and 3 and if those go well than maybe do Training 1 (like sign up and possibly scratch). So wish us luck!!!
Well yesterday Ryan was a bit of a turd and it took me over 1/2 and hour to catch him….so I decided it was a long lunge and side reins day! Yeah hopefully he wont be a jerk in the paddock again!! lol He also did trot and canter poles and was definitely tired by the time we were done but was really a good boy when he was working!
Today he was being used in two beginner lessons (yeah great for a young green horse…. and this is how I lost Mimosa :/ ) so I didnt ride him so I rode Scooter instead still a good day at the barn!
he was such a good boy!! I of course started him out on the lunge line and also introduced him to some trot poles. He actually got it really quickly but I set them a little far apart so I moved them closer to make him have to collect himself through them and he got it on his second try!! and after that his trot overall was better! Also I cantered him on the lunge line and he once again held both leads the whole time I asked him to canter!!! He is kind of amazing me how quickly he learns.
Once I got on he took a few tries to get the poles again but then he was fine :) I tried cantering him but I was in the indoor and with the poles there was like no room and sharp turns on a horse that cant really balance himself is scary so I took him to our front bigger arena. He was pretty strong up there but still had a nice canter in both directions and nothing seemed to scare him up there which is good (since it is right next to a major road with some kinda scarier jumps).
After I untacked him I left him tied in our tack area for like a minute while I went to put something away and all of a sudden I hear hoofs scrambling and I look out and Ryan is on his butt trying to rear looking like he is about to flip over so I freak out and run out to him. His barn halter was (until right after this) a rope halter and with him pulling back so hard he jammed my safety knot (yes it was a proper safety knot he just had pulled back with his full weight so it got stuck) and he somehow got the lead rope over his head so of course I couldnt get the halter off. So I just stopped and tried to calm him down to see if I could get him standing again. He did but poor boy was shaking!! I still couldnt untie him or get the halter off and he started to freak himself out again…..luckily Rachel walked by and I called her over and she grabbed so treats so eventually we got his head down and all untangled but I had a major heartattack!! Needless to say he got switched to a regular halter and lead (FINALLY!!!!!) after this!!!!!
