so this is awks but i followed you obviously from the 365 horse days, and was just on my friend's facebook and saw taht you're totally friends with her! it's weird because i live in canada and she lives in texas and you live in california. which i only know because i had clicked your name to look at your horse, which is in your profile pic. which sounds super creepy. but i'm not creepy i promise. i just thought it was crazy!

Sorry I know this was from forever ago but I thought I had responded! Its not creepy I was just in TX for 4 years so thats probably how I know your friend :) I have a bunch of riding friends around the world and then some freinds over lap…the riding world is a small one :)

She is totally sound so I still got on and just walked out on the trail (pathway along the river behind our barn) It was our first time going out there by ourselves (third time overall) and she was so good :) even when a flock of pigeons flew right at us! the only thing that scared her was walking back through the automatic gate to get back into the barn!!!! lol

I really cant love my mare anymore than I do <3

For the past month the only time she has been ridden was this past tuesday and the weather has changed a lot in the past week (dropping like 25/30 degrees). I was expecting a crazy mare for my lesson this morning but no she was relaxed slow and just like perfect!! She had some moments when something outside the ring would distract her, but wouldnt break stride or anything just would kind of look out then drop her head back! lol Can you say best 6 yr old ever!!! <3

She hasnt been ridden since Wednesday but usually that means that she is extra lazy lol Then also it was so hot today (like 105 when I was riding) I really was hoping she would be quite and with the heat didnt want to over do it so didnt lunge her. Well she likes to get sassy in the heat….. The beginning of our lesson was not pretty and I was expecting a disaster of a lesson but finally about half way through she through a fit and tried to leap me of in a lead change so I halted her hard and backed her up and then all of a sudden she was like oh never mind Ill be good! lol After that we did a couple like 2’6-2’9 courses which she did very well!! She really has grown up a lot!!

Rode Lacey in just a halter and lead today for the first time :) she was ao good. We walked around the barn some then went into obe of the rings and even trotted a bit I havent cantered her bareback with a bridle so i wasnt doing it for the first time in just a halter lol. I used to LOVE bareback now im a bit more of a weenie about it. Oh well! Riding tomorrow then lesson Saturday :)

Girlie had the day off today so I just turned her out in one of the rings for a bit as usual she just stood there! lol

So I suck at this blog sorry about that!!

Yesterday I had a lesson with Lacey and we jumped for the first time (other than a single jump) since she got out here to Cali. We ended up having an hour and a half lesson!! I must say my horse has pretty good stamina! The ground work Kim has been having me work on is making a huge difference in Lacey! It funny how I feel like she has grown more in the last week and a half than she did all summer. Today we had a mini lesson (I warmed up on my own and kim just watched me jump like 6 jumps) and she felt a little sore when we started out to the left but that went away after a lap or two of trotting. She really retained pretty much everything from yesterday which made both Kim and me very happy. I only rode her for about 25 mins then took her on a nice long walk and then she got a long bath :) I wrapped her last night and then again tonight just to make sure she is comfortable. She has off tomorrow and then I am riding her again Tuesday and lessoning Wednesday :)

For her second day out here and her first ride she was seriously amazing! Had 3 little temper tantrums about not wanting to walk by things but got over them all very quickly. The only problem we will probably still have for a while is walking down the hill from the ring to the barn….she really hates that and its by the cows which doesnt help but if that they biggest problem we have I am totally fine with that! So proud of mama mare :)

I am so proud on how much Lacey has grown up!!!

I took her to the show on Sunday and she didnt really look at anything and no stops which is progress from the last show! We even took her over to the jumper ring during a warmup and jumped around a little and still nothing fazed her!!! We ended up 5th, 7th, and 8th out of 11 o/f and 5th out of 10 in the under saddle :) Our transitions SUCKED in the u/s so I was extremely happy with 5th! I think once we get those transitions she will be up there in the flat. As for the over fences the lines were set weird so it was hard to hold Lacey through them since she didnt have room in the corners if I let her go so some weird distances and of course some hard lead changes but she hated the ring…oh well still SOOOOOO proud of her!

Then today I had a lesson on her. We jumped 2 new jumps first try no problem!! Then I jumped her 3’6!!!! Yes only one jump but still I was like shitting myself lol She jumped it like it was nothing!! Then we also jumped the bank out of our ring! Gahhhh so good!!!! I love my mare so fucking much I cant even explain it!!!!

Sorry for like deserting this blog :( I will try to get on it!

I hacked Lacey today after I worked at camp. I was so tired but luckily she was really very good! I had taken a crop in case she was lazy but after the first lap could tell I didnt need it but when I went to put it on the fence Lacey got scared and started rearing…. At that point I was like shit this should be an interesting ride, but after that she was so perfect!! I took her out in the field and did a little x-rail a few times and then went back into the ring to do some more transition work and work on some lead changes. It is really so amazing how far Lacey has come since we bought her and really how far we have come as a team!! I have a lesson Saturday that my mom should be coming to and she will video for me and then we have a show again Sunday!! :)

Lacey coliced last night :( It was just a slight impaction colic that we caught very early. I checked on her throughout the night and stayed with her most of today. By the time I left the barn today she was totally back to her normal self! I am heading off to LA now for a week :( but have friends checking in on her for me. She really picked a horrible time. The vet came by late this afternoon and said everything seemed normal so that is good!

Mare was so so good today :)
